Middle of the afternoon in Santiago, Chile, i’m in a car with my friend singing the lyrics of Billie Jean who is playing on the radio and recalling how beautiful and sexy Michael Jackson used to be at that time. My friend drop me at the first shopping mall and then on a music store’s video screen: “La muerte del Rey del Pop, 50 anos” at first i don’t catch it and ask a sales assistant who confirm me the news, Michael Jackson has died today from cardiac arrest. I can’t believe it , i’am stunned like all the crowd who start to pile up in front of the screen to hear the latest news and updates.
Some people are talking, crying, screaming and on every faces a lot of sadness and incomprehension. Michael’s music is suddenly playing everywhere in the shopping mall, radios, TVs…. Michael was more than a singer, more than a genius entertainer, even more than a legend, he was a bit like a brother, a best friend who cradled our lives, made us dream and gave us so much joy with his voice, music and everything he was. Michael was simply a part of the “family” with a very special place in our hearts, that’s why the loss is tremendous and so painfull.
I remember the first time i saw Michael Jackson on TV and how exited i used to get just looking at him dancing and singing. I immediately became a huge fan of this amazing artist who would revolutionned the entire music world with his originality and genius.
Super Star at the age of 11 with the Jackson 5, Mega-Star worlwide at 25 with “Thriller” who beaten all the selling records in music history and is still nowadays the best selling album of all time, Michael Jackson became in 40 years of career a LEGEND with 750 millions albums sold all over the planet and with a worldwide fans base who never stopped to grow as time goes by.
At the time of his death Michael Jackson was rehearsing for his up coming U.K Tour smartly entitled: ”This is it” and who was supposed to be, from his own words : “The final curtain call”. Scheduled to start in a couple of weeks at the O2 stadium of London, the 50 concerts’s series has been reportedly sold out at 11 tickets per second! An other record!!
Michael is dead, but his legacy and all his love will last forever.
1958 – 2009 / R.I.P Michael Jackson, we will always love you.
